@lexluther96 , “early may”. The last couple of years have been like, May 3, 4, 13 and 16th.
Has the release date been earlier these past two years? @pinkcloudsonmars
@lexluther96 It seems like Stanford has released decisions on the Friday before the “official May 15” decision date for the past couple years. Last year decisions were out on Fri., May 6. The year before was on May 8. Don’t know if they’ll be continuing this trend, but hopefully they do!
Does anyone (maybe someone from a previous year?) know when they actually deliberate and decide who gets in? Is that in the first week of May?
So I got into UCLA Biz-Econ, but got rejected from Haas. My stats are as follows:
GPA: 3.96
College: 3 CA Community Colleges
5 AAs (been in college for 2 year)
1420 SAT score (out of 1600)
Took all the Math, Econ, Acct, and a bunch of other classes offered.
Graduated HS in 10th grade
Have a bunch of ECs
Great Letters of Rec
100+ Units
Talked about how I want to do research in developmental economics so that i could help developing countries
Downside:
Had to repeat 2 classes a year ago because a family member got really ill. Spoke about it in the extra section.
Had pretty bad HS grades, wasn’t able to excel in that environment and parents were struggling financially to live in the area.
My age might be one too because I’m barely turning 18.
Also, applied once before and got rejected. I think it was because I barely had any classes under my belt and my app wasn’t formulated well.
But, I guess I’ll find out what happens this week.
Good luck everyone!
I am a potential out of state transfer for chemistry.
I was accepted to UC berkeley college of electrical engineering and computer science, though I am waiting to hear from Stanford and Harvard still for chemistry.
Interesting story that apparently Cal liked. My faith is renewed that someone at Stanford will spot me. Good luck everyone.
Not really expecting anything since I was rejected last year, but might as well give another shot. I’m sure there are much more qualified applicants than me on this page. Good luck everyone!
Anyone know when decisions will come out?
@Jbevarts Good luck with the Stanford and Harvard, both are unlikely for everyone haha. Additionally, I live in northern California about two hours from Berkeley and an additional 30-60 minutes from Stanford. Berkeley is an amazing school but the city is awful. Did you apply to any other schools, like UCLA?
@bobthebuilder42 Either Friday or next week (I’m just guessing)
Yeah that’d make sense. I called and was given a super vague answer: “mid-May.” No clarification as to whether this Friday or not.
Best of luck to everyone as well. This is like playing the powerball.
@AGuyWithAFry only cal, S, H, and UW. I live in Seattle and UW was my last resort. Thrilled to have cal as my safety now.
Why is city awful? @AGuyWithAFry
@Jbevarts, I grew up in Berkeley. The campus is really beautiful, but the city really is awful. There’s a huge problem with crime (ie robberies, rapes, drug issues and sexual assaults) on Southside are very common. My sister went to UCB and she would get constant emails and warnings about how there was a rape on Southside, it got so bad they had to actually hire “campus police” that you can call to escort you at night.
You can’t leave any of your stuff anywhere or it will get stolen. Bikes and computer theft is common. There’s a lot of homeless that will wander on to campus and will harass students. Southside is really dirty and gross. Northside is nice, but it’s VERY expensive and that’s where most of the professors live.
Again, the campus is beautiful and most of the students stay pretty close, but Southside has a lot of grime to it. It has been turning around the last couple of years though. I think the crime is flowing up and out of Oakland and more north. Berkeley was bad for a long, long while.
The decisions will be out on May 15th according to their website.
@Jbevarts mind posting your stats?

Comments: Met with the admissions officer this last summer and seemed to leave a great impression. I have an academic turnaround story. Really hoping Stanford values my entrepreneurial passion and real world software engineering experience.
There are some fantastic stats on here I must say - really hoping I get in but also really impressed with other people’s work! This should be an interesting process!
@eel19 transferring from cc in Seattle. 3.99 GPA, A- in non-math/sci, I applied for chemistry at Stanford though was just accepted to Berkeley for EECS. Homeless for 3 years starting my sophomore year, 2.xx high school GPA, drop out. Sub 30 ACT taken a few months ago. I’m 28, father has post doc in synthetic organic chemistry from Stanford, and and I grew up with him as a single father. Bred for academia, fell off, climbed back. I’ve held nearly every position at an engineering firm in Seattle over the last 8 years that integrates electronics into diecast aluminum and injection molded parts. They’ve given me the means and the flexibility in recent years to return to school.
@Jbevarts what a fantastic story. If you don’t get in congrats on EECS, it’s quite an accomplishment.
@eel314 thank you, I appreciate the kind words.
