Stanford is not top 5 school(?)

Top 5 Colleges (US News World Report Ranking)

1 Princeton

2 Harvard

3 (tie) Columbia

3 (tie) MIT

3 (tie) Yale

Where is Stanford ? Stanford is not top 5 ?

Do you really think there’s a meaningful difference between #6 and #5? Or for that matter, between #10 and #5? Stanford is a great school and it’s not the right fit for everybody and don’t let some magazine ranking sway your opinion on whether it’s the right school for you.

I was surprised to see Stanford not in the top 5. However, I cannot complain about any of the 5 that were ranked in the top 5.

As @washugrad said, this really doesn’t matter.

Perhaps Stanford had ranked lower than the “top” five in US News social mobility score. The criteria used are a mix of measurements in academics, student achievements and social issues. Stanford scored 93 points, whereas Princeton is graded as 100.

Stanford will never be in the top 5 due to one thing, it plays real division 1 sports, that alone affects grad rates, admission scores, etc., and when these schools are so tightly packed together it makes a difference.

“Never” is a really long time.
