<p>^The article doesn't cite Stanford as an Ivy. It says "Some Ivy League colleges - as well as Stanford, whose president and provost recently volunteered to cut their salaries by 10% - have announced tuition fee hikes." It clearly makes the distinction between the Ivies and stanford.</p>

<p>Edit: At the very bottom of the article it says that there was previously an error counting Stanford as an Ivy, but as of March 12th it has been fixed.</p>

<p>Pop-culture non-references - Stealing Harvard was originally supposed to be “Stealing Stanford,” but admins declined the offer from the producers because they didn’t like the message that someone would need to resort to crime to pay for a Stanford education.</p>

<p>Legally Blonde is set at Harvard Law, but is based on Stanford Law, where the author went.</p>

<p>There was an episode in Full House where DJ was studying feverishly for the SAT to get into Stanford.</p>

<p>More recently we had the girl in Stanford underwear in bed with Justin Timberlake (as Sean Parker) in The Social Network. And there were various other references to Stanford in the film once the setting moved to Palo Alto. I liked that movie overall, but if I were female I would have been pretty offended by the depiction of women as bimbos both at Stanford and Harvard!</p>

<p>Then there’s the young adult book “Nothing But The Truth” by Justina Chen Headley, where the protagonist is a participant at SUMaC (Stanford University Mathematics Camp).</p>
