Top 10 schools mentioned/starred in movies/tv series/shows

What are the top 10 schools based on appearances on tv/movies or even mentioned on tv shows/movies?

Superbad - Dartmouth ?

Columbia/Barnard appear in more movies than I can name.

Just teeny-tiny sample: Columbia -- Hitch. Barnard changed to Bedford and had a TV show set there -- The Bedford Diaries.

Countless Law and Order episodes filmed there.

The show "Chuck" is premised on this guy getting kicked out of Stanford. Stanford is mentioned a ton, but ironically, when they filmed the episode where he goes back to Stanford (during the Stanford/UCLA football game) the show was filmed at UCLA. Though, it is kind of obvious the writers don't really like Stanford all that much.

"House" is supposed to be at Princeton. Again, outdoor scenes are filmed at UCLA.

In LA many TV shows/movies/etc are filmed at the various college campuses in the area, including UCLA and USC. When filming they put up signs around area asking the students to be quiet when they pass. One scene being filmed at UCLA, while the students were there, was obviously supposed to be USC, they brought in USC signs and tents. Well, UCLA students aren't that kind hearted, and couldn't walk by without yelling things about USC. I'm thinking that scene would have been filmed much faster at USC.

south harmon institute of technology. :)

Across the Universe had scenes at Princeton, if I'm not mistaken.

In "The O.C.," the parents met at Berkeley. When it came time for their sons to apply, the father especially encouraged them to choose Berkeley, but one went to RISD instead (and his girlfriend went to Brown).

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, UC Berkeley has a scholarship award named after one of the characters from the show.

Yale and Gilmore Girls.

The first scene of "When Harry Met Sally" was filmed at the U of C, as was "Proof".

There's a horrendous error when Harry and Sally drive from Chicago to New York and there are amazing views of the Chicago city skyline. Anybody who knows anything knows that the U of C is south of the skyline, and that if you're driving south from the U of C to New York, you're not going to see anything but the lovely landscape of Gary, Indiana.

Harry and Sally should have met at Northwestern. THEN they would have been able to see the skyline on their drive to New York!

The Cameron Diaz character in "My Best Friend's Wedding" is an architecture major at the University of Chicago. Considering that there is no architecture program and that Cameron Diaz is the last person one would associate with the U of C, I'm pretty sure that the screenwriter just wanted to use a name of a school that included a city and sounded familiar. If I remember correctly, the Julia Roberts character went to Brown.

Princeton: A Beautiful Mind

Yale:the upcoming Indiana Jones movie

Mean Girls is set in Evanston so they mention Northwestern, her mom works there.

The Graduate is said to be associated with Williams College.

In The Notebook I believe Allie goes to Sarah Lawrence.

Mona Lisa Smile is set at Wellesley.

Georgetown: The Exorcist

off the top of my head...

for Brown on TV:

Simpsons
Family Guy
the O.C.
the West Wing
Will and Grace
X-Files
Sex and the City
Waterfalls

Brown in the movies:

As Good as It Gets
Outside Providence
Anger Management
Varsity Blues
Anywhere But Here
Devil Wears Prada
Emperor's Children
Me, Myself, and Irene
The Wedding Date

Yale is a major setting in the film The Good Shepard.

greys- meredith went to dartmouth. christina went to stanford

Harvard -- Legally Blonde

Tulane (all the John Grisham novels/their respective movies)

This would have meant nothing to me a year and a half ago, but in one of the Leave It To Beaver episodes, they mention Muhlenberg College. Probably the only time it has ever been mentioned on a TV show or in a movie.

University of Michigan

Air Force One (the President asks if the Michigan vs Notre Dame game was taped)
American Pie (some of the characters enroll into Michigan)
Big Fish (Hail to the Victors played during town parade)
Eyes Wide Shut (one of the characters husbands joins the Michigan Mathematics faculty)
Good Will Hunting (Robin Williams' character mentions Ted Kaczynski and Michigan)
Waterboy (Michigan uses a their Towelboy...with disastrous results! LOL!!!)

All of the main characters in The Big Chill went to Michigan.

Notre Dame has been in a lot, including Rudy, Knute Rockne All American.

West Point has been a lot, especially older movies from the 1930s and 1940s. The one about George Custer starring Errol Flynn being an example.

Georgetown: St. Elmo's Fire, The Girl Next Door.

Boston College: Joe Hackett from "Wings" went there; the coach in "The White Shadow" went there; Tom Bereger wears a BC sweatshirt in "Last Rites." Sometimes in the Jack Ryan character in the Tom Clancy books is listed as having gone there.

Columbia: Spiderman

Princeton: Risky Business
