Hi! I know I've already created this same topic in another forum, but I would like to hear some more thoughts.

I got into both MIT and Stanford for Course 15 Sloan at MiT (operations research) and MS&E (management and engineering ) at stanford. If i am interested in entrepreneurship and tech industry which school would you all recommend for me? I love them both so I am totally stuck. Thanks!

The Stanford faculty in OR is a little more distinghuished than MIT’s. George Dantzig used to teach there. He was the father of linear programming.

If you look at the winners of the John von Neumann Theory prize, which is awarded annually to a scholar (or scholars in the case of joint work) who has made fundamental, sustained contributions to theory in operations research and the management sciences, Stanford dominates.

I am a Stanford senior in CS. I chose Stanford over MIT for its humanities balance.

I have a ton of friends who did the MS&E track. Its awesome. You can make it hard or easy but its definitely interesting and flexible.

If you are interesting in entrepreneurship and technology from a business and management perspective, come here. You are in the heart of the Valley next to all the job opportunities. It is the mecca of entrepreneurship.

On a more personal note, I love Stanford. Its been a very challenging four years emotionally but I expect it is that way at most schools. If you can, visit both schools, think about which you just felt awesome about when you were on campus, go with your gut and don’t have regrets.

Yes I will be revisiting both because I would also like to visit the Energy Resources Engineering at Stanford because I have interest in that are too. We ll see how it goes, I havent made up my mind yet.

If anyone has any information on ERE I would be really happy to hear it.
