Stanford vs. Rice/Baylor.

I’m going to be a maverick and say go to Stanford. Stanford didn’t become prestigious spontaneously. They have an awesome undergrad with rigorous classes that’ll only prepare you for med school. Sure a spot in their med school may not be guaranteed, but doesn’t hurt to try. Besides, even if you decide to attend med school elsewhere, at least the challenging courses will have already prepared you. Lastly, I know that many have said attend only if you can afford it, but as a big believer in education, don’t let the cost hold you back. There’s scholarships, federal grants, etc, to help you.

Too late for advice. This student is probably almost finished with his 2nd year of med school :P

R/B!
There are several R/B that turned down Harvard. If you make the decision to turn down Stanford you won’t be alone.

I think I will turn down Harvard for R/B by May 1st. I live in Houston. any R/B student or Northwestern/Medical student, thought?

There are Rice students who turn down Stanford without R/B, and in my opinion the undergrad life at Rice is better than at Stanford. Definitely go with R/B!

My S is going to turn down UPenn and PLME for HPME and I am so happy. I attended Baylor Med and loved it and you won’t go wrong there as well. It is a great medical school with fantastic camaraderie and outstanding hospitals/tradition. Good luck!

The mean Step 1 score at BCM for 2010 was 244. That is strong.
