Hello, I was wondering if it was easier to get in one major over another at Stanford. I have a friend that says he wants to pursue an "easy-to-get-into" major and switch into another major. I told him that he was wrong and that Stanford weights all majors the same. Am I right or am I just getting confused with MIT? Thanks

I’m pretty sure it makes no difference… they just want to know which “school” to place you in.

Stanford says on its web site that it does not consider your intended major in admission decisions. Although of course your friend is going to reply “that’s what they say, not what they do”.

MIT definitely doesn’t do that.

MIT does not consider your major when you apply… thats what they said at least.

Even if they do, it’s a dumb move on your friends part because he’s going to waste his time fulfilling requirements for one major and by the time he’s ready to fulfill requirements for the other, there wouldn’t be enough time.
