Is Stanford's biology department famous?

Is Stanford’s biology department better than JHU’s ?

Stanford has absolutely fantastic departments in both microbiology and cell biology, and they are always at or near the very top of the rankings of (graduate) biology depts. I don’t know if there are any meaningful undergraduate departmental rankings out there, but at research universities like Stanford and Johns Hopkins, the quality of the undergraduate offerings would largely depend on the quality of the grad depts. and on the degree to which undergrads participate in research. Stanford undergrads have excellent access to research opportunities in biology right from the start. Johns Hopkins most likely does as well, since both of these schools have renowned medical centers on their campuses.

Stanford’s biology is among the best, if not the best, in the world. It has increased its prominence in recent years as well due to new research programs, many of which are open to undergraduate participation.

The undergraduate biology major is extremely well-reputed.
