What is Stanford’s endowment? Is it one of the richer schools? I think Yale is the second richest with 12 billion, but im not even sure if thats right. Anyone know?

Stanford bleeds money- you see it when you drive down Palm Drive (the "driveway") and let me tell you, it is one hot experience.

so what exactly is an "endowment?" Is it just the sum gross total of all the money the university makes over one year? This doeesnt includes assets like buildings and land right?

Endowment: Funds or property donated to an institution, individual, or group as a source of income (Dictionary def)

Stanford is not as rich as some of the top ivies, but that's because it's much younger and has only become super famous for a few decades.

But I'm sure it'll surpass most of the ivies, with the possible exception of Harvard, in the near future.

Stanford had its largest total donations year, w/ 510 million.
