Starting the Application Process

As junior year is coming to an end, I know that i am gunna have to start on my essays/applications soon but i really have no clue where to begin. I guess it would make sense to write one of the common application essays first but im not really sure.

If anyone can tell me what they think is the best way to begin the whole process i woudl greatly appreciate it.

Btw, i will be applyig to 2-3 schools with rolling admissions and 1 school ED (plus about 10 regular decision).

If any seniors or college students coud just briefly comment on how they started the whole process id be really grateful. My GC has been out of school for a while and they dont know when shes coming back so im kinda lost.

I'd appreciate any advice regarding this as well.

For what it's worth, look up some typical college essay prompts, and get the feel of the "college essay." The common app, personal statement, biggest influence, etc. are all typical questions.

You should first get an idea of what colleges you want to apply to, then look at whether they accept the common app w/ or w/o supplements. You might want to narrow your colleges a bit, 14 is kinda alot. Make sure you have good safeties (colleges that you should expect to easily get into) that you wouldn't be greatly dissapointed to go to. Around 8 schools is a good amount (w/ at least 2 reaches, matches and safeties). It'd be great if you could write an essay that fits the common app during the summer; you should be able to use that one essay for most of the apps you have to do with small alterations. Though, I got to tell you, most seniors don't write their essays till the last minute no matter how they plan it.
