Going into 11th grade very soon, didn't want to study for SATs during the summer lol. So what's the best to way study for it? I don't like classes or tutors...

Get the Collegeboard blue book and do the tests.

I have the book :). I got almost a 70 in math on my 10th grade PSATs, but should I still do them through? And how should I go through the book? Also, is there a test I can take online that will give me a score of what I am at right now? I got a 162 on 2nd PSATs (only about 45-50 on Reading and Writing), aiming for a 1900 on SATs at least. How much do you think I would get if I don’t study at all?

This might be useful.

Yea I know that, I think I’m gonna do practice tests but I don’t know if this is enough and how much of this I should do along with the blue book.

Hey there!
I took the PSATs the beginning of my junior year and I got an 180. On the day of the SATs I scored a 1900 with minimal studying. It all depends on whether or not you were in the testing mindset on the day of the PSATs. If you performed poorly/had a bad day/family problem/etc you might score a lot higher with a positive mindset. However if you were just nonchalantly taking the PSATs your score could be in the 1600-1700 range without studying. I really would advise against not studying for the SATs because it’s a waste of your time to go in without studying. I would instead take practice tests, read the intro stuff in the blue book, and browse this site and look for some helpful threads and books to buy. Best of luck!

Thank you sassyginger! Nice name lol.
So tutors and classes aren’t needed right? I like learning myself
And also, my school doesn’t offer any AP classes besides music theory (Not enough level, teachers pick what level you are on) and biology but it’s on my elective class period, so I can’t. Since the high school portion is only 250 students, I can’t really do anything about it, would that affect how I get into colleges? Two kids in 12th grade got into uPenn with 3.9 gpa and 1900SAT, they both placed a sport and did well at it…and an instrument but nothing too major.

Bump, so…
The free SAT prep classes are crowded and I prefer to do it myself. I plan to take practice tests on Shmoop and CollegeBoard every week and work a bit on my reading SAT on my blue book every Saturday, is that a good plan?

THANK YOU! I need help in Reading and Writing, math isn’t so hard. The problem is idk how many times I should take the SAT? I barely studied but should I take it? What if I got a bad score? Would it affect applying for colleges? I just wanna try and see what would I get.

You can take the SAT once if you haven’t before, to accustom yourself to the setting, the questions, etc. I wouldn’t recommend trying a second time until you feel like you are adequately prepared.

Just do as many practice tests as you can.

Just twice? What’s wrong with taking it 3-4 times? My teacher is saying I could take it in November of my junior year.

Hello?? Anyone?

Also, there are events or whatever they are in a few days that is near my area, I think it’s like a meeting, one is from Duke and another is from NYU, should I go? Would that benefit me from getting into the college?
