I got a letter in the mail today saying I am not elligible for the grant:
“You are currently inelligible due to the following reasons: Our records indicate that you are not a high school graduate and not the recipient of a home school diploma or Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma obtained through the General Educational Development (GED) Test Program.”
The form asks, “Type of Diploma.” That’s it. Is it the type of diploma you’re going for? What diploma you currently have? Or what diploma you will have in the year that you’re applying for?
I assume it’s the last one.
I’m a senior. I haven’t graduated yet. So I ended up choosing “Other” and entering my high school name under it.
The options were:
High school diploma
GED Certificate
Home Schooled
Other
I’m pretty sure I have to do the form for the year I’m going to college, which I did correctly.
idk
So how was I supposed to answer the question?
As far as I know PHEAA asks about your high school diploma, just put the high school you are planning on graduating from and the month/year of your expected graduation.
You need to print out the signature page at the end and mail to PHEAA in Harrisburg.

It will also ask for college you will most likely attend, make sure you put a college in PA. Enrollment status (full time) and program of study (bachelor’s degree), if that matches your situation.
The question about excludable PA 529 savings plan value applies to the balance of any PA 529 plan that was included in the FAFSA asset calculation, it is excluded for PHEAA purposes.
Doesn’t the FAFSA asks the same question? How did you answer it? (Question 26: high school or equivalent completed) answer high school diploma. It also asks for high school name, city, state
