OP, not the end of the world and I do not think you need a gap year. If your parents can afford Ramapo with the help of Pell+NJ State grant+Fed loan you should be ok. Work hard and explore transfer options to Rutgers/TCNJ if they offer more opportunities depending on your major. Your future is still in your hands.
You probably missed on 5.5K scholarship at Rutgers or a chance to find some decent private college that would give you good finaid making it affordable but it is all now in the past.
Let me share with you a little secret - which college you attended does not matter as long as it is a reasonably good college. I graduated from an average university abroad that nobody in the US ever heard about. During last 25 years I had 100+ job interviews and did not get a single question about my university. Starting with the job search for my second job it all was about what I know and can do for the prospective employer.
Please disregard current college admissions hoopla at your school, who got where, who will attend where, etc. It will not matter one bit a year from now.
