How much did anyone who got into MSU, get in scholarships and grants? More specifically if you are OOS? I’m wondering why I didn’t get any merit aid?

Why would you expect merit?
@Sybylla I was just wondering how much most people got in aid, because I heard that MSU doesn’t really give much aid to OOS students.
Did you read their financial aid page? Their $15k/year merit award requires a 1400+ SAT. It sounds like you just didn’t qualify.
Did you apply to any financial safeties?
@austinmshauri The only OOS merit scholarship that I saw was the 8k/yr award. Do you have the link for the 15k scholarhip?
I’m on my phone, which won’t let me pull up a link. If you read through the scholarships, you’ll find it. It won’t matter because you don’t qualify for it. What’s your net cost there? Can your parents pay it?
Are you expecting some kind of magical outcome in your OOS applications? I don’t understand your plan at all. You have no money for college, you don’t have merit earning stats. You should be looking at your local CCC that is commutable. Have you got that sorted?
You are an out of state applicant, and your stats were not tippy top. That’s why you don’t get more merit aid.
How much other people get does not matter to you at all. It is not a fixed amount given to every OOS and you dont have the stat to get one there. Stop wasting time on this and look for affordable schools.
From reading your other threads…you have a LOT of public universities on you application list. A LOT.
IIRC, you are instate for California. What Cal States do you have on your list?
Did you look at affordability at all before you applied…or did you just assume merit money would be heading your way? Who advised you on your college application list?
Your stats are going to get you accepted at some of these out of state places as you have seen with Michigan State, and Temple. But they are not high enough for you to get significant merit aid.
How much merit aid do you need?
And does your family qualify for need based aid at all?
My DD received a $15k annual OOS honor program award. She would have to participate in the honors program. also has a 1x $3,500 study abroad award as well.
