You are in but why with those stats would you apply to that school? I know the campus is pretty but with your stats WHY GO TO RICHMOND... ITS A LITTLE DUHHHHHHHHHH FOR YOU. (school is hardly a bastion of academics more like a party country club school)

Wow...I'm offended.

they are offering me a great scholarship and i love the people, the campus, and basically everything about the school college is what you make of it, and the "name factor" really isnt an issue, i sat in on a bunch of classes found that they are both challenging and interesting. going to richmond would not be settling

Nicely put.

I applied to Richmond, and got in, and I was a bit taken aback by what Dramageek164 said. But then what you said has some truth in it. Richmond's reputation is indeed not up to bar with the stats of people like icsmatt. I must say, though, that Richmond isn't bad either - its Robins School of Business ranks in the top 20 nation-wide! I'm interested in economics and finance so that's what made me apply.

If you know that your stats would get you full ride at such a challenging school, I don't see why you shouldn't apply. Just go to Richmond, get the full ride, and be a top student, than going to another school and be mediocre!

You were a bit taken aback when I said what?

Dramageek164, I was a bit taken aback when you said to icsmatt "...with your stats WHY GO TO RICHMOND... ITS A LITTLE DUHHHHHHHHHH FOR YOU".

I may choose Richmond over other more prestigious schools (just, simply, merely because they offer me money from A-Z, a good enough reason?). Hopefully you won't say "duh" to me. :P

Wisse, you got it wrong. Dramageek164 didn't say that - hedoya did. Indeed, Dramageek164 responded by saying "Wow...I'm offended."

Oops are my eyes getting even worse...? I'm feeling like a n00b now. :$

I hope you accept my apologies, Dramageek164. Thanks for pointing out my horrible mistake, Bumppo.

Haha no worries.

Looking at other posts by Hedoya, I would ignore that post.

Wisse, one of our alums is a GP at Goldman and he's made it a priority of theirs to recruit UR students. If you want economics/finance, based on your other thread, I would say UR is the place for you. I'm an econ alum and am currently a financial analyst for a top 8 IB.

yeah i was thinking buisness/finance so richmond is the way to go, and the scholarship is well, amazing. turning down an ivy isnt such a big deal when you can wrap your head around the fact that richmond just has that "fit", great classes and potential (despite whatever ratings are being disputed), and that there is a REAL community at richmond, not so much at an ivy. not to mention the fact that the largest class at richmond was ~35 (almost positive), and at the ivies intro psych can have 300+ kids. being just a number, not appealing. Being an integral part of an intimate scholastic community, who could say no?

ics, it sounds like you've got a lot figured out. My largest class at UR was baby bio with ~45. Even then, I never was a "number." In fact, I over slept for my final in that class. I went to the professor's office later in the day and the first thing she said when I walked in was, "I was wondering when I could expect you." I took the test right there in her office. At some other schools I would have been shocked if she even knew I was in the class. ics, best of luck to you, I hope for Richmond's sake you end up there.
