... that is still too late.

it wasn't two years ago when i was applying. in fact, i recall one of my friends applying and being admitted to columbia ED after taking the SAT in november. you just need to note that in your application.

alright, ill look into that. anyone have any response to my aforementioned questions? :X

"i can honestly say that i know a ton about stocks and the market and have made a nice buck as well =]"

Don't, you seriously do not know the stock market. Too much to get in here, but theres the whole market efficiency, beta, market timing, etc to get into. But its easy to make a good return in the last 3 years, almost impossible to not have made 50% return Aggregate. Furthermore, if you picked high beta stocks (riskier ones), they would be up 100% in the last three years, 100% in the last three MONTHS if you did emerging markets. Individual stock picking has almost no influence on your performance.

You can say you are interested in the stock market and want to learn more (although Stern is interested mostly in investment banking route (has nothing to do with stocks), very few goes into S&T. If you are going to put it on your resume, make sure you don't mention being "good at the stock market" or try showing example how.

SATs, definitely retake, average SAT is 1441 (2 years ago, will probably be higher for your class)

im pretty sure class of 2006 scores (high school grad) were higher than 07.

What's your major?
Which majors are largely mathematics orientated?

oh and which of the business majors is the hardest to get accepted to?

Declared major isn't factored into admission in Stern and CAS. I am finance, as is 90% of Stern.

fyi, 69% major in finance..still a great majority

edit: actually declaring a major other than finance, and other than marketing probably, would help i think

mattistotle- yes, people have made huge gains in the past three years. Thanks for your response. I will try to "show" them my intelligence instead of just saying "im good".

but please dont say i dont know anything about the market. I dont want to come off as arrogant, but I have been relentlessly reading books and actively trading for a while now. I know all about beta & volatility, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, ect. I have at least 25 books sitting behind me on the shelf right now.

I'd like to ask you a few questions about Stern if you have some time. I'll be going to the business school open house this sunday.

I highly doubt it. I mean, that's super obvious, and the admissions office probably just works off the assumption that you'll switch to finance anyway. Unless, of course, you can actually show that you're really interested in some other business field, but I don't think people looking for ways to game the system are actually going to be able to do that.

would only 2 subject tests (chinese and math iiC) be enough for admissions?

thank you so much.

OOooo, I have a question,
Is marketing a popular major among Stern sudents, I know everyone always talks about finance major so I was just wondering.
(Stern students only please)

it's second most popular (20-25%) after finance

WHAT ARE MY CHANCES? I APPLIED EARLY DECISION TO STERN.

I'm planning to major in marketing/public relations.

you're in at every school you to which youve applied. congrats.

hum....sry but i think a lil differently lol...i'd say u hv a 60% shot at Stern (mainly b/c of ur gpa) i'd say u hv a great shot at all ur other schools but may hv a lil bit of trouble for georgetown...just my 2 cents

are you asian? because stern is no joke AT LEAST 50% asian, so you must have something REALLY impressive to compete with the others.

You know, the alternative explanation is that Stern is predisposed towards accepting Asians (south & east) and you might have an easier time. Or, it doesn't care about any sort of 'affirmative action' and thus won't compare you against others of your same ethnicity.

Just playing devil's advocate.
