NYU Stern admission rate

"Applicants must apply through NYU undergraduate admissions to enroll in Stern School of Business.
As of the 2010-2011 academic year, Stern School of Business had an acceptance rate of 38%[ii]."

38! And I hear on these forums the acceptance hovers in the 15 - 20% range.

that makes me feel much better

That… is just a wildly inaccurate figure. When I was accepted to CAS in 2010, the acceptance rate was something like 27%, and Stern’s was lower than that. Both have dropped quite a bit since then

@jazzcatastrophe Who gave you the acceptance percentile for CAS? The dean?

It may have been, but it was a long time ago so I don’t really remember who it was specifically

There’s no way it’s 38%. The admissions rep told me more around 15-20%

I had the Stern Dean’s Welcome just yesterday. The Dean told us that they had a record this year: 9000+ aplicants (a few hundreds, but cant remember how many) and 620 spots. However, I think that as long as you have a really good essay and show leadership through it, you can get in. Of course, the higher the scores/grades the better.

@Axel0102 Assuming Stern’s retention rate is 30-35%, that means Stern’s acceptance rate is anywhere from 15 - 20%.

Damn it, I should have been born in 1992 :frowning: . It wasn’t long ago when stern’s acceptance rate was in the high 20s/

It is literally on the Stern website:

http://www.stern.nyu.edu/programs-admissions/undergraduate/stern-advantage/profile

15% Overall including ED I, ED II, & RD

30% of class is filled by ED I, assuming another 20 or 30% by ED II

So RD ends up being very competitive and has single digit acceptance rate

Someone mentioned that if the FA Status in Albert changes from Award Access Unavailable to Self Service Unavilable, it means your are accepted. Is this true? If so when does this change seen or known to have happened? Couple of days before decisions or like weeks before?
