sterotypical student?

i didn't see one, but some people say there's a definite type of kenyon studet. i've heard kenyon is granola & laid back OR preppy & rich. which one? both? when i visited i didn't see any popped collars or j crew. they just looked normal and comfy.

"granola & laid back OR preppy & rich"

If there's anything life at prep school has taught me, it's that preppy rich kids tend to be the ones who are, or are pretending to be, granola and laid back. They're the same kids, those two social categories are.

I would say there was a mix. One end of campus tends to be more granola...with the historic south quad being more prep. Even the rich preps don't pop their collars that much. I'm pretty sure the entire J Crew catalog was delivered on my hallway weekly, based on the UPS boxes waiting for people...look harder next time?

sorry is my powers of observation were mediocre, but when i visited it was raining and no one was out. thanks for the info!

LUVmarmots did you go to one of the organized visit days? Just wondering if you were there at the same time as me. I went on the first visit day and the overnight diversity day. It was raining on my first visit as well.

no, i didn't go. i live in ohio so i just drove up one day. and also because i live in ohio it was raining, again. it will probably rain next time i go up too. hoooray ohio! jk!

I'm not going to lie, I get J.Crew packages all the time. I'd say earthy/preppy mix.

I don't think there's a stereotypical student at Kenyon. I think the best thing about Kenyon is the fact that every type of student is represented at Kenyon. Aside for lack of racial diversity, Kenyon is pretty much a diverse school in terms of students' personality, socioeconomic background, interest...
