Hey Gratz man,

I don't know why they took so long to get back to you. Also about the tests, maybe you can call them up and tell them about your problem. That is kind of unfair because you do not live in California.

:|

I will sometime. I don't even know if I am going to UCR yet, but the Bourns Engineering sector looks quite nice and well-advertised but school rankings are not so nice.

You will take that exam during orientation I believe.

Anyone still waiting? I know that they are still working on applications until April 30th, but it's nice to hear that I'm not alone.

I hope that it's because they have so many applications and not because the English program is hard to get into. Honestly, I didn't really think I'd wait so long or worry about it so much.

Cathead, please call! As soon as possible, its better to do something now then wait and get rejected, or find out that they lost your application.

I've been in contact with my school transfer student rep and he assures me that they just haven't gotten to my application yet (that was like a week and a half ago). At this point, though, I think that you're right that I should call.

I just called the undergrad admissions office and she assured me that my application is still in the system and considered on time. The interesting thing is that she asked me if I went to high school internationally, like that may be the reason why my application had not been looked at yet, but I didn't (I went to high school here in CA). So, yeah... she said that I should get my reply before the 30th "unless my admissions counselor has any questions," but that she hasn't even looked at my application yet.

the "your application is still under review and considered on time" is just another silly excuse to get you off the phone/not talk to you and wait.

like I said before, I had to pretty much lie to them about SIR's for other schools to get them to hurry up. a day earlier, I got accepted, yeahhhh.

but I probably won't go to UCR though. I just wanted to know that I still had UCR as an option if all else fails.

And I still have no reply. I will be calling them shortly.

What really bugs me is that I emailed my transfer advisor on the 22nd to make sure that my application was correct and didn't say international and he never replied. Then I called yesterday starting at about 2pm (they close at 5pm) and I got their automated message saying that, if I reached it, to hang up and call again. I literally called until 5pm. I think that their phones were off -- there is no way that I would not have gotten through in that time.

I'm upset.

I was in the same situation yesterday. I tried to call even after 5pm and I didn't get through. I called again this morning, was placed on hold for 3 mins, then I got to talk to someone. The lady told me that my application is going through a second review because they just received my transcripts on the 29th. She also said that they've requested my transcripts through postal mail since December 21, 2007 but I never received that letter in the mail!!! I'm kind of upset because UCR is my last chance and it's taking them forever to review my app. I'm a transfer student, by the way.

cathead: You should try to call in the morning. If you get that recorded message again, just hang up and dial again. You'll get through eventually.

I wouldn't be so worried haha. After all, the UCR group on Facebook doesn't have very many members, only about 250 something haha.

As for the phone situation, it is extremely hard to get through. I pressed redial like 5 times before someone picked up.

I'm starting to hate their phone systems... HAHAHA

I actually got through this morning at which point the girl on the phone told me that my application had not been looked at yet and that there was no set date for when they would tell me. I called BS on this (of course I didn't tell her this) because: (1) It says they will tell all on-time students by April 30th on their website, (2) I called the same number on 4/22 and they told me that I would hear by April 30th, and (3) My transfer advisor told me that I would hear by the 30th. She transferred me to leave a message for someone named Linda there and assured me that I'd receive a phone call back. It's 20 minutes to 5pm and I haven't heard back.

I'm so frustrated.

iambianca: Did it show up on the my.ucr.edu website in alerts that they needed your transcripts?

Yes, but I didn't get that alert until April 22nd. The lady on the phone said that they've sent letters in the mail AND e-mails that they're requesting for my transcripts. I never received any of those, (I even check my junk mail on my email account) except for that alert on my.ucr.edu. That's why it took them a long time to get through my app.

I'm glad that they at least looked at your application and I hope you hear some good news soon. Mine is apparently stuck in limbo. I guess my next phone call will be tomorrow since I think they lied about me getting a phone call back when I left a message.

Thanks :)

If you've sent them your transcripts, you should hear from them in like 2-3 weeks. The deadline for the SIR is on June 1st, so they should send out decisions before that date.

I didn't send them my transcripts because I was told that I didn't need to unless it was requested -- do you think I should just go ahead and send them? I asked my transfer advisor before, although he has since not responded to my last 2 email inquiries.

When you called this morning, did you ask them if you need to send your transcripts? Try to call them tomorrow and ask them about it just to be safe. In the meantime, go to your my.ucr and check under "my documents" if it says "not received" on your school transcripts, then chances are, they need it. BUT, you should check with them first. Call them and ask. Also, check your email. Maybe they sent you an email about it but it got stuck in the junk/spam mail.

@ cathead:

Haha, strange. My call was transferred to Linda as well. After I spoke with her, and a day later, I was accepted.
