Hi I'm highschool 11th grader in CA STILL looking for major... (and university of course)

To talk about me...

First,, I'm math + science guy... A lot of effect from my family. My Dad's a mechanical engineer working in Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and my grandpa was a chemistry person from Pennstate who was a professor in Korea.. My favorite subject is math and physics.. Especially LOVE SPACE !

Also, I want a job that is profitable. My parents are spending so much money into my education in US. I would like to major something that would pay back all my family's efforts.

Lastly, I want to finish up to PHD degrees. My grandpa and dad were all PHDs, and I would like to get PHD as well.. My dream is working at NASA.

I'm thinking about math/econ/compsci/finance/eleceng/aeroeng/physics(astro?).. What do you guys think I would most fit into? What schools should I consider? (excluding MIT ! haha)

I’m sure that if you aspire to do anything space related the top choices would be Aerospace Engineering, Physics, and Math. (IMO that is…)

As for where to consider, it really depends on your stats I suppose, but it sounds like that won’t be a problem for you (or that is what I am feeling from what you’ve said so far.)

Another factor to consider is the cost of undergraduate compared to the cost of graduate school. Most people would agree that if your end game is some sort of advanced degree (ie. PhD), that it would be in your favor to try and save money on your undergraduate education, so that you can have the financial leeway to be able to attend graduate school. Just something to consider.

Hmm… My stats are not THAT great but not as bad either… Haha, my reach is ivy hopefully. 5th/400 at school, lots of AP classes, leaderships, but little low SAT1 (has to bring it up!)
My dad told me that these days electronical engineers are more welcomed and appreciated than aero… What kind of job I can get with math and physics degrees …?
