thank you very much

So...When I clicked on this thread, I didn't notice it was started a year ago. I guess students from last year had the same problem. Anyway, I finally turned in all my papers like a week ago and waiting...

So there are a lot of people still waiting on USC, right?

I just got a call today from the finaid office at USC. Hopefully I should get info soon. And hopefully those same ppl from last year aren't still waiting!! :P

OMG! I just realized something...

I applied to USC with the intention of living in dorms...But my parents told me that it costs too much and I'll have to commute from home. How would that affect my finaid? And how do I tell USC?

um you should call the financial aid office? where do you live if you have to commute from home?

hey, so I'm visiting USC this weekend, and I've never been to LA before in my life, and I have to go by city bus to get from USC to Union Station (so I can take the metro to Claremont, CA to visit a friend). Is it pretty safe to do that, do you think, or should I probably try to convince a friend from USC to come with me on the bus? I'm from a small town, and my parents are freaked I'll get lost (which I tend to do).

I live in L.A. like maybe 30+ minutes from USC. So I'll have to live with my parents...

I think it would be a good idea for you to ask your friend to meet you just in case.

I already got my financial aid. But, I don't know how I can get the loans that they listed for me. Also, for $5200 difference, I need to get a parent plus loan? (is it credit-based? cuz I think we have no credit as we recently moved here). To get Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans and Plus loans, what forms do I need to fill out and what else do I need to do? I am confused...

omgitscollege--thanks for that; I guess I'll ask my friend to come with. I hate being a burden, but I guess it's the safest route to go.

It is probably going to be Purdue for my son. After his dean's scholarship, USC will cost me $39,000 per year (and I'm sure it will be even more expensive in the following years). Purdue will be $13,000 per year. I guess USC is only for the rich and the poor. Forget about the middle class!

There are outside scholarships that you can also apply for. Additionally, the school of engineering has some of its own scholarships; I presume that other schools have some, too. It'd be hard work, but it's definitely possible to pay for it. There are lots of on-campus jobs too, if you have the time for them.
