Hi guys! So I’m having a hard time deciding between stony brook and hofstras honors college for pre med as a biology major. Stony brook I’ve heard they make there classes super heard to weed out people and there lectures are huge. However for Hofstra I would take extra classes as part of the honors college and it isn’t really know for pre med compared to stony brook.
@gilmoregirls101 I think you are correct that the classes at Stony Brook will be more difficult and result in more weed outs than at Hofstra. Also the students at Stony Brook have higher stats (on standardized tests and gpa) than at Hofstra, so the competition will be more intense at SB. For premed it’s best to select a college where you have the best chance to shine academically, where your stats put you in the top 25% of the entering class, because your peers will be your competition and you will need to be able to achieve top grades (in addition to top MCAT scores as well as extracurricular activities showing interest in medicine) for medical school.
