What is the storage situation in the new Scott hall? Fixed furniture - can you loft beds? How much closet storage is there or room for a bookcase, etc.?
I am assuming you mean Scott House, the dorm on North campus. (There IS an academic building called Scott hall, but I don’t think that what you are referring to lol)
I do not live in Scott, however I lived in Bowen House this year which is one of the new dorms and has a similar set up to Scott, so I think I can help.
The beds have a “junior loft”-basically, they’re high enough off the ground to fit storage bins and stuff underneath them, but you couldn’t fit your entire desk under it.
The closets aren’t like the kind you have in your house. Essentially, you have an open space with a bar above it and a set of cabinets underneath it. You can hang your clothes on the bar and then fold things and put them in the cabinets. I know that’s not super descriptive but there really isn’t much to it. There isn’t a HUGE amount of space, but it’s enough to hang a reasonable amount of clothing.
Your desk has shelves built into it for books, so I wouldn’t suggest bringing your own book case, simply because the rooms are small and it will take up a lot of unnecessary space. There are shelves on top of the desks, and there are also drawers and shelves underneath the writing part of the desk.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Like I said, I didn’t live in Scott, but I did live in Bowen and I spent a considerable amount of time with my friends in Raney House (another new dorm like Scott,) so I assume that Scott has a similar set up.
This link talks about all of these questions. https://housing.osu.edu/roomsearch/scott-house1

Look at the pictures in this link of the new North campus dorms. There are a couple of views of the bedroom set up.
