Strawhat auditions

My d has an audition slot for Sunday afternoon at Strawhat auditions in NYC. Is there any reason that she should attend on Saturday? Would she be admitted and be allowed to talk to anyone on Saturday? I need to make her hotel and airline reservations as I have travel rewards she can use. I know call backs are Monday so I will book her return Monday evening. It looks like no one else at her school has a Sun. audition time. Thanks for your input.

My D’s aud time slot is for Saturday at 2pm and her callback would be the same day. I believe all callbacks are scheduled for the same day as audition per their website. I would email Jay on the Strawhat website if you have any questions.

I agree that asking them directly is probably the best source but I wouldn’t think there’s any reason to be there on Saturday if your audition is Sunday. Of course there’s plenty of good reason to spend an extra day in NYC if you can but not specifically for Strawhats.

You should go on the day of your designated audition and not beforehand, I wouldn’t think.

My D’s audition time for Strawhats is also on Sunday. She was told to expect to spend the whole day there because of callbacks. There would be no reason for your D to go on Saturday since she has an audition time. I think only those who did not get an audition time but are on a waitlist for a time would go all the days to try and get a spot.

Well one question though. What time is her audition slot on Sunday? If it’s really early she may need to come in on Saturday night to be safe. Never know with travel these days. Hope she has a later time slot!

I believe the information we received indicates that the callbacks are at 8pm on Sunday for the Sunday auditionees.

Let me clarify… “We” didn’t receive it. My D received the info and relayed it… hence the “I believe”. : )

It says on the website that dance calls are at 7pm and callbacks are at 8:30. That’s the same for all 3 days. Hope this helps! ;)

Thanks for you comments. I really appreciate them. I wonder however, why the web site says auditions are through Monday, Jan. 20th. I guess I assumed Monday was for call backs so I guess I will call and ask before buying a non refundable airline ticket.

My d’s audition is at 3 on Sunday so I think she can fly in on Sunday morning. Hopefully the weather will be good.

There are auditions scheduled for Monday, including the dancers who sing auditions. For those with Sunday scheduled auditions, the dance call is at 7:00 pm and callbacks start at 8:30 pm.

Thanks for the updated information. I’m not sure what time D’s audition is on the Sunday since she has all the info, but she is in NYC so she doesn’t have to travel.

Break a leg to all those who are attending!

Unless for some reason the auditionee cannot fit in all of their callbacks (or they choose to spread them out over into the next day), the callbacks are on the same day of the initial audition. Many companies have more than one casting representative at the auditions… one who sits in the main audition room calling people back and another conducting callback simultaneously in a callback room.

Regardless of the time of the initial audition the dance call is in the evening, with teaching starting at 6PM. Callbacks after the dance call can go as late as 10PM or so for some companies.

Thanks for the clarification!!

You have all been very helpful. Thank you.
