Hi everyone,

I just completed Fordham's Pre-MBA program. So received 2 of my grades- B + and B+ (GPA is 3.5). Overall, I'm proud of myself as I am 23 years old and took MBA-level courses while working a full time job and part time job.

HOWEVER, the third grade I'm missing is an 84 (B). I asked the Professor if he wouldn't mind bumping it up to a B+ as I worked REALLY hard in his course. It may be a long shot and he may disregard the email but I'm just really disappointed. I will be applying to MBA programs next fall and was hoping this would show schools that I'm ready. One of the B+s was 2 points away from an A. So I'm just very discouraged right now!

Best case scenario: He bumps it up to a B+ and I can keep my 3.5 GPA
Worst case scenario: He leaves it as is and I will have a 3.42 GPA

I know that doesn't seem like a huge difference but I was really expecting at least one A. Oh well, enough ranting. Just needed to get that off my chest. I feel better lol Basically, I need to kick the GMAT's behind and show Grad schools that I TRULY am focused! :)

What programs do you want to apply to? Work experience is generally just as or more important than grades. Unless if you intern/work for McKinsey or BCG or a similar-level company, it is difficult to be accepted to the top programs (Sloan, Wharton, Harvard)

A 2 year stint at McK essentially secures your admission to any business school, or any company for that matter.

Thanks for your reply!

I want to get out of Account Management and into Brand Management. Rather than work Agency side where I am now, would like to work Client side. Next fall I plan to apply to the following MBA Programs (mostly part-time since work is paying for it)
-CBS (just for fun! Doubt I will get in but since I live 2 train stations away… why not)
-NYU
-Fordham
-St. John’s
-Georgetown
-American
-Baruch
-Hofstra
-George Mason
-UC- Irvine (because my company is located there so easy to just switch onto a new account)

I eventually want to work for a CPG company like Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, or Unilever or a Luxury Goods company like LVMH as a Brand Manager. I will have to internship first, and an MBA is a requirement for the position, so that is what I’m working towards. I love advertising and it’s great now. But later in life when I settle down, working these crazy hours are going to get old and the pay drastically increases when you switch over to Brand Mgmt (a lot more responsibility too!)
