Hi Everyone!
Right now as far as majors go I'm really leaning towards Neuroscience, and if I could, I'd probably minor in Psych. The thing is, I really love art and want the college that I go to to have a range of courses that are available to nonmajors. I'm looking more towards small liberal arts colleges on the east coast (only two ivys) but am also looking at some UCs (I live in Cali) and some of the Claremont Colleges (Claremont McKenna, Pomona, Scripps...) and some schools in MN and OH. I'm open to out of the country too :D

Here's a list of some of the colleges that I'm looking at right now. If you have information about any of them or could recommend some new ones to look at, that would be great.
Thanks!

Amherst
Bates
Bowdoin
Brandeis
Brown
Carleton
Claremont McKenna
Colby
Dartmouth
Haverford
Kenyon
Macalester
Middlebury
Pomona
Swarthmore
Tufts
Vassar
Wesleyan
Williams

I know it's probably a lot but I'm sort of lost right now, and I really love art but am reluctant to actually go to an art school. Thanks Again!!!

I think you might find what you’re looking for at Washington University in St. Louis.

Hi ZZsplastic,

I just want to confirm that Brown’d be a good school for your list. We have an extremely strong Neuroscience program, as well as great art classes due to our affiliation with RISD. It’s really easy to take art classes as a non-major, as well. Good luck in your search!

Williams is a good choice for double (or even triple) majors. Excellent sciences, excellent studio art and art history.

All of the colleges on your list have art departments, though some are stronger than others. My guess would be you’d have no problem taking studio courses as a non-major wherever you end up. At this point you’d probably be better off filtering by ambience and personality rather than choice of major/minor.

If you specifically want LAC + a strong art department, I’d look at (in addition to Williams): Wesleyan, Hamilton, Skidmore, Conn College, Kenyon, Vassar, Haverford. Smith if you are female.

Although excellent for other areas, I wouldn’t give Swarthmore, Amherst, Dartmouth high marks for studio art. Tufts has an arrangement with the Boston Museum school, but it’s not so easy to access. Brown’s own art department is good, as is it’s relationship with RISD. Yale also has a very good art department.

For Neuroscience and Art, UCLA. FANTASTIC Neuroscience dept and one of the strongest studio art and art history programs in the country. Add to that the proximity of the Hammer Museum, the Getty and Lacma.
