Student Life at JSA?

Hi! I was planning on applying to one of the JSA summer school programs, and had a preference for either Princeton or Georgetown, but I’m really undecided as to which school to attend (courses at both schools interest me to a similar extent). So in order to make my decision, I was just wondering how the student life is like at JSA? Is it more relaxed or kind of hardcore? Do they give you any significant amount of “break” time?

Hi!! I attend JSA at Princeton last summer and the student life was honestly ok for me. It depends on what course you take really, and I took an AP one. It was definitely more intense and much more fast-paced, and after class, the time we had before we had to go to debates was used to read over assigned text and homework. Most of the time we were in class, and it was 3 or 4 hours everyday of free time (plus you get Sundays off). However, if you aren’t planning to use the credits through the courses, then you can always choose to walk around the university.

I have heard that Georgetown is definitely more intense, with more trips planned to New York (Not for shopping, but for presentations or speeches). I’m not sure about the course load there, but I just heard that they got it harder.

Hope this helps!!

@3888feath thanks a lot for that information! What about the outside-life, do you guys sometimes get to go outside campus on Sundays to hang out with friends for example?

Oh, we weren’t allowed to go off campus to hang out friends, and we actually had a map of a barrier of the campus. They are quite strict with going off campus on weekends, and you wouldn’t have time with the tests and homework you have.
