Student Loan Help

I"m at the end of my first semester in college, and I now have a $7,000 bill that I can not afford. I still have to pay for next semester, and the rest of my schooling. My mom lost her job 3 weeks ago, so there is no way for me to pay this debt. I asked the school for a financial aid appeal, but they say that she needs to have been out of work for at least 10 weeks.

We are in the process of trying to find private student loans, but hope looks short for us. We have no people around us who could be a cosigner, unless a miracle happens.

My mom right now is filling out the PLUS loan, and if she's accepted that will help, if not I'm aware of the potential $4,000 that could be added to my Stafford loan.

Does anyone know of any private companies that I should look into that could approve my moms credit?

Thanks.

As long as your mother is current on her bills (credit cards) she should qualify for the plus loan.

How do you pay for the first semester?

We paid for first semester through taking away from rent money, and my family back home almost being homeless. My mom hasn’t done well with her credit cards but she recently got a new credit card, which she’s being paying faithfully for 8 months.

What does that mean? Does that mean that you owe back rent? And who is almost homeless?

You’re at Baylor. How much is your family supposed to pay each year total?

It doesnt’ sound like Baylor was affordable. How did you think you were going to pay for it? Your mom just lost her job, so that wasn’t the issue.
