hey, have u guys started applyin for ur visa n stuff... if not wen will u guys start that...

Visa , no no not yet. You gotta apply three months before you enter the US. So that would be in May /June. And since you'll be asked for approximate date of arrival in the US...you would want to plan out your trip there based on the international orientation dates of your university. Probably arrive a day in advance etc etc

Have you heard of students being denied there visa at the consulate here?

i havent.. what about u... do u think the incident at Virginia tech might lead to tougher rules and regulations for obtaining a visa.... i dont think it will make a difference but i just have this fear in my mind...

What kind of EC's do you all do?

Because I can't find any

Hey everyone
I'm an Arab living in the UAE. I'm studying at Stanford-used to live in Al Ain.

Have all of you got visa appointments. I got mine a week ago and the earliest appointment date available was 28th June!

I'm not from the emirates, but I go to Al Ain for the summer 'cause my dad works there.

hey guys..
i live in dubai n im in 11th rite now (bio - at oohs)....would really appreciate any sortta help u guys could give ...

Study hard and try to excel in something outside school. Find something your passionate about and stick with it. This is harder in the UAE then in the US and admission officers know this but it'll definitely help your application out. Also work hard on your essays and make sure the professors that write your letter of recommendation know you well and really like you and that they can properly articulate themselves in english! Can't think of anything else right now. Good luck!

thnx superwizard....
ive heard that AP's get you alot of credit in college....but how do i go about preparing for 'em?

APs will sometimes get you credit depending on your major and on your school. I got a decent number of credits for my chem and math APs but none for my english or econ or physics. You'll have to check the school's website to check which APs they accept. APs also show that you are ready to take college level classes and do well in them. Studying for them is really like studying for any external exam. Idealy AP classes should be offered in your school and if you take them and buy a review book (princeton review for example) you should be fine. If your school doesn't teach AP classes you'll have to learn the material by yourself which will be harder but you can still do it by buying an AP book and learning from it.

if you had to choose one...just one....what would you choose...SAT subject tests or APs..

lol what a strange question. SAT subject tests. why? because a lot of universities require them while no university I know requires APs. Off the top of my head I'm pretty sure MIT, Princeton require SAT subject tests (stanford recommends them but doesn't require them)

Yo guys.. Its about time we had one of these threads. lol! I was born and brought up in Dubai and am a sophomore at Northeastern University in Boston!
