students have unique personal circumstances

I have a unique personal circumstances led me a worthwhile resume including great achievements, valuable work experience and awards in computer science.

I've demonstrated that I've been very successful in Computer Science.

Honestly, is Dartmouth much interested in students with exceptional abilities and personal circumstances?

or GPA and standard tests are also main factor?

I am looking forward to hear from you. Thank you.

…
Nobody want to answer…?

No, Dartmouth is absolutely NOT interested in students with exceptional abilities.

If computer science is your exceptional ability, you might want CMU or UIUC as backups…

@samuraisma
Dartmouth is my first choice. I would try to get in.

But, how do you know "Dartmouth is absolutely NOT interested in students with exceptional abilities. "? Please clarify me.

He was being sarcastic of course schools are interested in students with exception abilities, but schools like Dartmouth have the luxury of accepting students who are both exceptional, and have shown their dedication and capacity to deal with stupid **** through getting great GPAs and test scores.

@carlucill
I agree with you. Thank you :slight_smile:
That is why Dartmouth needs “Personal Essay”…

depends on what kind of personal circum.

some schools don’t just look for your skills and scores…some look for specific personalities and special aptitude…simply knowing a great deal about computer science may not help at all. I’m assuming you designed a lot of software that are really nice. THAT should help, and be your ECs. However, that still doesn’t ensure a ticket to the top schools even if you created Portal 2 or something. Look deep into the admission websites and so on and get a feel of what kind of people they are looking for.

everything is a factor. class rank, GPA, SAT/ACT scores, ECs, and college essays.

Thank you for the suggestions!

@Skyrior: Yes, I developed many software applications. Also, I’ve taken part in some programming competitions.

I am talking about “focusing on my own strengths and interests”:
