Study Abroad Programs in Italy

My older son spent his senior year studying at Loyola University of Chicago's Rome Center. Link - http://www.luc.edu/romecenter/ It was the highlight of his college career and the friendships made there have lasted through the years since he graduated.

The Rome Center is located in Monte Mario, atop Rome's highest hill, in a lovely neighborhood on the bus line. Students come from all over and the campus is a residential one, much like a typical campus on a smaller scale. The students sleep, eat and study at the Center. Travel on the weekends is common since Fridays were class-free. It was easy to take the bus into Central Rome (my husband and I had actually stayed a few days at the campus and knew our son would love the environment).

The experience changed our son's life. Good luck finding the right program for your student.

Wow the Wake Forest one sounds like a dream! I just went to Europe for the first time over spring break and Venice was definitely my favorite city.

My D just returned from a summer program in Florence through Pepperdine University. she did a lot of traveling in 7 weeks including Rome. She wasn't impressed with Rome as a city. She loved Florence and Venice. A 5 day cruise through the Greek Islands was included with tours at each port to biblical and historical sites. It was an incredible experience. Pepperdine has quite a selection of IP programs semester, year long and summer. You may apply to overseas for Sophomore year. D felt it was the best experience she ever had. No need to be fluent in italian. All the courses offered met GE requirements. Pepperdine has their own site where the students live and study. Good luck on your search.
