Study abroad vs. field work: planning

I plan to be an anthro and Spanish major, so field work in 3rd world countries is something I'd want to consider. However, I've always wanted to travel to the UK, but to study obviously. And Spain. There are schools in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland that I could go to, including the University of Glasgow, St. Catherine's of Oxford, and University College - London. I know almost nothing about their academic programs.

Freshmen cannot go abroad until after 1st term....but I'd like to have some options in mind. How many semesters do kids usually go abroad? To study? Do fieldwork?

I know that there is a well-regarded anthro program that goes to Jamaica for a field work, and it's only for anthro majors.

Any ideas on how to plan this stuff since I want to go to many places?

Oh yeah, I'm broke too haha. At least tuition is transferable to unis abroad.

Are there any good books out there to compare foreign unis? Like Fiske?
