I will be attending UCLA in the fall, and I am very interested in studying abroad at some point. My question is: is it substantially more expensive to study abroad? I am out-of-state so I'm already paying a fairly substantial sum, however, I've heard conflicted things on whether studying abroad will cost much more or actually save money. Like, do you have to pay tuition to UCLA like normal AND the fee for the college you study abroad at?

It depends on the study abroad program. I think UCEAP is the most popular program at most UC’s since there is opportunity to get transferable credit at the university abroad. For UCEAP, I’m pretty sure you would still have to pay tuition as well as the program fees, but if you have financial aid, the amount you receive will take UCEAP fees into account. So UCEAP might not be the best option for you since you would still have to pay non-resident tuition, but there are other non-UC programs to choose from.

I will be studying abroad sometime in the next few years. Uceap is the site to go for all I formation on this topic. They have everything you’ll need
