Studying for two subject tests

Hi guys. So currently I am a sophomore in high school and I'm taking honors bio and cp world history. I signed up for the bio subject test and the world history subject test for june 7th. The problem is, I still have to learn some material for both tests and I also have a butt load of other work for the end of the year. I'm on spring break now, and I have to start studying for subject tests which stinks. Any advice? Oh and anything about either subject test would help too :]

you can’t really expect to do well on either of those tests if you have not taken ap courses. the tests cover basically all the material covered in ap courses and more so if you have only taken honors courses you’re probably wasting your money right now. If you still really want to take them you should consider buying every preparation book for each subject and learning every bit of material but if I were you I would wait to take them until you take the proper classes. before you spend a lot of money on standardized tests make sure you talk to a guidance counsler or a teacher. best of luck.

Not familiar with the Bio subject test but last year my D took the World History subject test as a sophomore. She took AP World History and got a 5 on the AP exam, but she only got 700 on the subject test. She said the two tests (AP vs. subject test) were quite different because the AP exam covered broader themes and of course has essay questions, whereas the subject test was much more detail specific. I really think it’s worth investing in a prep book specifically for the subject test.

You’re definitely going to need to do a lot of self-prep parallel with the honors classes. In terms of AP I don’t know how close studying for the AP is to study for the SATs because I’m international, but if you have loads of coursework to complete for the end of the term it’s going to be a challenge.

If money’s not a problem you can just sign up for the October or November exam and repeat them after you’ve finished your self prep. Or take AP classes your junior year and take the exams in June, around the same time when your AP exams will be. That way you’ll have covered both materials.

I’m from England and all the SAT subject content were not in my course here. I learned 3 different subjects, math, bio, and chem for three months and I just did it yesterday. It’s not hard. Just do two of each subject test prep book, get the official sat book and do the past papers at the end close to your real test.
