I do about 3-4 hours of homework a day from Sunday to Friday Afternoon. Then I take friday night off and saturday off to relax. Maybe I'll work on saturday if I have a lot of work, but you really need one day to relax, when the others are comprised of going to class, eating inbetween class, and studying the rest of the time.

^ Agreed. Just devote one day to relaxation if possible.

I can't do that... because I work weekends... I don't get a day off for 12 weeks once term starts. I'm taking 4 courses and working 22 hours a week this semester, so I try to get all my college work done during the week so I can flop out and play video games when I get home from work on Saturday and Sunday.

Back when I was struggling academically I worked as many hours as I could everyday. I never partied or anything (I'm an introvert, so I don't care for college parties). Bad life. Now as a senior at another school, it seems like I don't do much work because I grasp it better and it takes less time to do it. This semester I have classes nearly all day MonWedFri and I work 12pm-10pm shifts on TueThur for the campus security escort service. That job allows me to get some work done but not a significant amount. I will have to start utilizing the TueThur mornings better. In addition to regular school work and my job, I have to start my aggressive job searching and research project. I may end up cutting back on my job hours to give me more time in the engineering labs.

Sunday = studying all day

but it's worth it to party on saturdays

yea i think it depends a LOT on the classes ur taking and the school u go to. here, i find that the ppl who take humanities and easy science courses dont have as much work (they might have some reading though) but then there are ppl who take other really hard classes (like me) who tend to have more work. for me, its a constant game of catch up - studying for one class makes me behind on others. but there are also weeks of more and less work... i tend to do very little work on friday, and some of it on sat. but mostly all of it on sunday. so far, ive had time to go out almost every fri/sat nite...and time after class to also hang out w ppl...

Oh I know exactly what you mean. And they always have to dump it all around the same time.

Some humanities readings take significantly longer than science problem sets.

just sayin.

Haha what! Not here!

200 pages of humanities reading takes me, at most, 2.5-3 hours.
A 10-problem science problem set can easily take more than 10 hours.

Well, he said "some" and you gave examples of two specific ones. What if you have to read the Republic over the weekend, or Finnegan's Wake by James Joyce? Good luck getting that done in 3 hours and remembering anything. Sure, I don't think my 10 page essay readings take as long as an engineering problem set with 10 problems, but the essay probably has more life in it and the need to be read, reread, and discussed. The engineering problems are sterile and one-time use only.
