I just took the AP English Lit test thursday and think I, at the very least, got a score of 3 or 4 on it. Should I go with my gut instinct and not pay for, or take the Subject A exam next week because I I'll have it fullfilled with the AP credit? What is the worst that can happen; if I don't end up getting higher than a 3 on the AP test then I can just retake the Subject A exam in the Fall, right?

It's actually called the UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam, I think.

i have the same dilema cause i have championship track meet on sat. i figured that it oughtta be fine. I thought the AP lit test was easy, and confident on passing.
I called LandS advising, and they said i oughta be fine, @ CalSO i can just not register for r+c courses untill i know what i'll be required for, and it should be fine.

The thing is, everyone I know thought that the lit test was ridiculously easy, which means people may not to as well as they thought they did. So if I were you, I'd just take the safer route

"A minimum score of 3 on an Advanced Placement (AP) Examination in English. If you are scheduled to take an AP English exam in May 2006, you must still take the Analytical Writing Placement exam. If you do not pass the Analytical Writing Placement exam, a score of 3 or higher on the AP exam will satisfy the Entry Level Writing requirement."

They don't let you roll the dice with this one, you HAVE to take the AWP test if you: 1) didnt get at least a 680 on the new SAT writing section (or a 680 on an OLD sat II writing test) and 2) you havent passed an AP english test in the past.

was your SAT score on writing below a 680?

My calso is June 5-6, will they have my score by then? Can I still take history and english classes without having a score from that test?

My SAT Writing score was a 670...

no, ap scores come out early july, not b4 then.

worst case scnario, u just don't take any r+c courses in fall, take the test in fall, and schedule them next sem....thats what the advisor @ LandS advising said when i called, i wouldnt be to worried about missing the exam in may. oos students take it i nthe fall

punkdudeus is right, dont sweat

Thank God I got a 4 on the AP English Composition test; I'm only hoping for a 5 on the AP Literature test, thus fulfilling my R&C requirement.

It's good to be able to bypass the R&C requirement via ap credit, but R&C courses really made me become a much better writer, and the small class size made it a memorable experience.

And what you learn really does apply to other courses such as writing papers for history, classics, etc. I've never wrote so many papers ever in my life in such a short amount of time (talking about the amt. of writing from all courses I took last semester)!

yah i'm kinda thinking i wouldnt mind taking on sem. of r+c classes, esp. since there is a whole lotta classes that fullfill that rec

how easy was that lit test. I felt like it was a joke or something. except for that poem with the bat. the one with ancient wisdom. oh ****, is ETS going to plunge through my window and ziptie my hands together?
