I know the Princeton website says 2 subject tests are recommended but not required, so will not submitting SAT subject test results place me at a disadvantage (I haven’t taken any and do not plan to)? I’m an international student with a decent (50th percentile) ACT score and great ECs, recommendations (I assume/hope), and essays. So if I’m applying EA, will this place me at a disadvantage? What about regular? Thanks!
As an international, unless your overseas school is very well known, your standardized test scores is the best way to convey your aptitude and course rigor. 50th percentile ACT (~21 composite) isn’t going to get you admitted.
@psywar I assume that @lyuboh meant 50th percentile for Princeton (about 33 or 34 I believe). I would agree that Subject Tests are a good way for colleges to gauge your abilities in certain subject areas (especially for international applicants).
Keep in mind that Princeton receives applications from MANY more fully qualified applicants than they can accept. Many of these applicants will have subject scores on their application. To be the most competitive you will want to offer as full and comprehensive a picture as possible of your strengths.
