760 Math 2
730 US History
1500 (780 math 720 verbal 22/24 essay)
are these scores good enough to apply to competitive colleges like ivies?
I’m worried about the subject tests being relatively low…???
I just want to know if I should even bother spending the money to apply to these schools
1500 I think is a bit below average Ivies, aim for 1550 if possible? But it’s not going to be the thing that hinders your application. 760 on Math 2 is a low percentile (~65th), though, especially for upper-tier Ivies + MIT. How did you study? You should aim for at least 80th percentile on your subject tests (730 is around 76, so should be fine).
A 760 is fine. Percentiles don’t matter; scores matter. It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the one that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.
For the OP, scores are but one part of the equation for Ivy League Colleges. Your scores are in range. It will be the balance of the application package that will determine whether you get in or not. Good luck.
@skieurope also, would you recommend sending these scores to colleges where they are completely optional. For example, the University of Chicago and the University of Notre Dame, or would these just worsen my chances.
The scores are fine. Even for schools that require/recommend Subject Tests, those scores are just a small part of the formula. You’re fine to send.
