Subjects

Math: Easy, logical, and such a breeze!
Chemistry: Again...at least compared to the rest of the class :D
Spanish: It's my native language :p
Biology: I like the subject...not the teacher.
History: Always been good at it; always been interested in it.

Congratulations, you've just read the sentiment of just about 90% of the American High schoolers in the United States. ;)

Fine, I'll actually do this, since my other post was completely useless. If I had to rank them, as in the "least of the X evils" mentality.

Science - Sometimes fun/easy, actually useful, etc?
Math - Doesn't require memorization or any effort.
English - Not very difficult, but, um, the memorizing is annoying. And I never read.
Foreign Language - Communication ftw?
History - Absolutely useless and lots of boring facts. Agree totally with Moodrets here. And since I don't read, this is double the annoying. C+ in APWorld now LMAO.

-- 4. Math- Useless

Wow...just wow... --

Excuse me for having an opinion, but I honestly don't see how PreCalculus is going to be at all useful in philosophy BA/law school/law career. It's important for some people, definently, but not for me and what I'm pursuing. I like abstract concepts but math is just.... ehhhhhh.....

Science - it makes me look cooler
Math - it makes me look cooler
Language Arts - boring
Foreign Language - boring
History - USELESS

Curse all historians to the innermost circle of H***.

what's with all the history hate?

English (eloquence sounds pretty & I like pretty)

Foreign Language ( .. it sounds pretty HAH! I also feel cool when I speak Spanish because I'm Chinese and my family doesn't understand me.)

History (I think it's just like reading a really really long story. Sometimes it's interesting!)

Math (I highly dislike math, but I won't deny its usefulness. I love technology.)

Science (But I took APbio and everyone else seems to think that it's the suckiest of the sciences. It's my worst grade and I feel like it's history except without even the slightest storyline.)

You may have an opinion, but I cannot stand it when high schoolers denounce a subject as being "useless" just because they don't believe it will be used in their sphere of the real world. Math has a myriad of uses, whether they are applicable in your career path or not.

Not sure about you guys, but I rated my subjects on how useful they will be in my life and how interesting I find them to be. Math just isn't that interesting (science, especially physics, are though!) for me to care. I love abstract concepts, but what I don't like is the fact that it's all basically been discovered before. There's nothing new to explore, nothing new to inquire or examine. It's the same problems, the same concepts, the same formulas- and always will be. Oh sure, there may be a new formula invented, say, every 500 years or so, but nothing will ever originate that will derail the already established method of math. That's why I dislike it/find it unimportant. Having an open mind on debatable topics is interesting to me, discovering new things and thinking up new ideas that have never passed through anyone elses head is interesting to me, but plugging in a bunch of numbers for the same formula that has been used for decades, even milleniums, is just boring and unimportant to who I am.

Nice hyperbolizing.

Science (Bio = Physics >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Chem)

I love, um, what do you call it... "space" physics. Black holes, time traveling, big bang, the universe's size. Things like that. People might invent Final Fantasy stuff like "Slow", "Haste" and "Stop" spells, lol.

Interesting stuff....

I'm surprised by the hate towards history and lack thereof towards foreign languages (which are utterly useless imo, except for very specialized majors and travel).

I'm also surprised at how much people dislike bio compared to other sciences, considering I'm going to be pre-med (biased, I suppose).

Future posters, rank the science subjects (read: physics, chem, bio) in order of how you like them. This should be interesting too...

i just don't like history because I don't care to discuss the past. It's over, and nothing can be done about it
foreign languages are sweet though!

i don't like bio because there's not a lot of numbers involved, and i love math!

"i just don't like history because I don't care to discuss the past. It's over, and nothing can be done about it"

I can see what you mean here. History isn't about changing anything, it's about why were here today with what we have. And I find that interesting.

"foreign languages are sweet though!"

I can't stand the memorization involved and see no practical use in it.

"i don't like bio because there's not a lot of numbers involved, and i love math!"

I'd say there's more numbers in chem then bio.

yeah i was saying i dislike bio, but i love chem/physics!

learning a new language is amazing to me because you get to a point where you start to really appreciate it. it's a feeling i can't explain right now.
at my school, history has been taught [in my view] as memorization because that's how we learn it. there's never a project on applying what you learned, it's just regurgitating facts.

History - I find it pretty interesting, though I concede the unfortunate point that it is useless when compared to math and science, but since this a topic on favorites..

Lit/English - Really like to read and am a good writer ... aside from good writing skills, which are important in most areas, there isn't much applicability to this either unfortunately :c

Science - Like it, but I like reading about new developments in it and such a lot more than I like doing it myself. Full of minute details, terms, and the like that I find it hard to keep straight. Still am pretty good at it, just don't really think of it as very fun.

Math - Yes, I know its useful, I know its important, but the bottom line for me is that I'm not nearly as good at math as I am in everything else, and I'm not quite cut out for it.

Foreign language - Don't mind it and could certainly be useful, but I just hate grammar (in English too, but the other aspects of that class make up for it).

English/Language Arts - i love reading, especially really good writers like steinbeck, emily bronte, cormac mccarthy, because their sentences are so amazingly beautiful they sometimes take my breath away. and i love trying to understand their work and especially to try and create my own. plus forget the writing, there are so many incredible stories! plus. i love the subjectivity!

Foreign Language: it's such a typically american attitude to say it's useless. it's perhaps the most useful thing you could ever know...how to communicate, the most basic of all things. it's a very elitist attitude that's specifically and uniquely ours to say that we should only have to know one language and it's up to others to learn how to communicate with us. and it's so fun to open these new doors and be able to understand things that you didn't ten minutes ago...

History - i love some aspects of history, not the wars but understanding the ways that people lived and survived and created...

math: it's useful up to a certain point (like...8th grade math) but after that, it just seems so pointless for somebody like me that just wants to be a writer. how in the world is calculus going to help me with that? also, i suck at it.

science - plain and simple, i suck at it and i just don't care. probably the second informs/causes the first. lol.

Science (Chem>Physics/Bio>>>Environmental Science)- It's just interesting to learn.

Math -Math is fun sometimes, and it's very useful.

Social Studies (Not including history)- I like economics, psychology, and current affair kind of social studies. Those are useful in daily life. History is boring most of the time because I am bad at remembering dates and stuff.

History

English Language Art/ any Foreign Languages- Yes, it is important to know how to write, but the whole languages thing is really boring to me. I love to read good books, but I just can't stand writing about them. And I can't stand grammar rules.

Broad generalization but...

At my school at least, it seems like a lot of the Asians don't like history because they have little prior knowledge of it. For example, I thought US History was very easy because I already knew half of it. Many of the Asians, on the other hand, were unfamiliar with some pretty basic facts and had trouble understanding context. I would guess that CC has a lot more Asians than a typical high school.
