After you send in your application for EA, can/should you still send updates to MIT? What if you get an award for #1 Engineer in the country from the American Society of Engineers (which I think I just made up) in mid-November? Should you update them on this accomplishment? What about less impressive updates, like small awards, is it worth the bother? Thanks.

For a #1 Engineer in the country award, definitely tell them. For lesser things, some might disagree, but I'd say tell them, since at the very least it shows you care.

You're encouraged to update your application to include things that are important to you. What you consider important enough to update MIT may be different from what another person considers important enough, but you will not be penalized for updating with something small.

You can update MIT on your application for EA any time before about November 20, as selection usually begins around December 1. You can update for RD any time before about February 1, as selection for RD usually begins around February 15.

I highly recommend sending in updates. I very much regretted not updating during the early round and sent in I believe 4 updates during regular. It's not annoying as long as you have relevant things to add to your app.
