Submitted app. decided not to attend

I applied to Tulane University, and decided that I do not want to go here. Is it okay if I don’t send my transcripts and scores?

Yes, it would be best if you also contacted admissions and asked them to withdraw your application so they aren’t sitting around waiting for scores.

You might want to wait until closer to the application deadline before asking them to withdraw the application…just in case you change your mind again (which is perfectly normal at this point in the application process). Keep your options open.

You will not get a refund of the app fee.

I don’t personally see a reason to withdraw it unless there are specific fees involved in sending transcripts and scores. But if you’ve already paid then I would just keep it there in case you change your mind. Assuming you’re applying RD, you have absolutely nothing to lose.

If you already paid there is no point. Just leave it and you never know you might change your mind again.

@Philpsych makes a good point…we’re assuming that you applied regular decision.

If you applied early decision or early action (I see that Tulane offers both) then contact the school and ask them to convert the application to regular decision. Make sure you get a confirmation that this was done. This will buy you more time before you need to make a firm decision about sending test scores and in the case of ED it would allow you to apply ED or SCEA somewhere else.

If you’ve applied RD, just send everything in- It can’t hurt. You might change your mind again, the college applications season is pretty tumultuous mentally.

My kid sent her grades and SAT scores to a college before deciding she actually didn’t want to apply. She just emailed the rep to say she wouldn’t be applying and to please close her file. It wasn’t a problem.
