Submitting only an abstract for research portfolio?

For many of the colleges I am applying to, there is an option to attach an additional resume or research paper. However, for the research project I am currently involved in, I have not yet obtained my results. Would it be acceptable for me to attach an abstract detailing the background of my project, methodology, and consultants along with intended results in lieu of a fully typed out paper?

NO college wants a full paper. They ONLY want abstracts.

I think you would attach it in the 650 words extra part in the common app. There you can give a brief explanation of what you did.

I’m not sure if you would want to put a research project in the place to attach a research paper because papers are published while your research is more like an ongoing extracurricular or work experience; you can probably talk about that in the 10 slots given in the common app. For a lot of colleges, it would look great if you mentioned it in their supplements instead.

No. Don’t use Common App space. Append the abstract as a supplemental submission and send it directly to the colleges. One page – max.

@T26E4 That was what I was thinking as well; attaching the abstract to the supplemental or portfolio section. So without results it should still be ok to send?
