I'm an international transfer applicant reaching for admission to a few very selective colleges. Is there anyone on College Confidential who was accepted as a transfer student in the past couple years to colleges like Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Amherst, UPenn, Columbia, Brown, Stanford, or Cornell? Any international students who managed this incredible feat?

Check out the stickied threads at the top of the page.

don’t even bother apply to any of them but Penn and Cornell but even then the transfer rate is extremely low. my advise apply to a college that accepts a large amount of transfer student/ stay away for IVY league type schools when looking to transfer because they do not take a large amount of t students.

“Selective college” isn’t the term I would put for transferring to ivy leagues. I would put “next to nearly impossible”. What puts you at even a bigger disadvantage is the fact that you are international. I wouldn’t even bother to put in the time unless you’ve been working for a ivy-league professor or is a athlete who competes internationally.

I would suggest you look at some public colleges.

LOL I understand what you guys are saying, but as far as I know, schools like Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Amherst are the only ones that will certainly cover an international transfer student’s complete financial need - in the very unlikely event of acceptance, that is. I’m going to need between 20000 and 30000 dollars to attend any American institution of higher education, and I don’t know of any other colleges that guarantee or would probably offer me financial aid.

I’m an International who got into Brandeis as a transfer, which would be considered “Selective”, but not insanely-ivyleagueish-selective.

Hey, milanista. Where are you from? Did you get any financial aid?

I’m from Egypt and yeah I got what I requested which goes well with their policy that states they meet 100% of demonstrated need of admitted students! regardless of nationality.

That’s great! Did you need as much as I do, though?

Yeap the higher end though
