My DD is a senior in HS and just applied at IU. We are attending GAME DAY at IU on November 8. We are thinking about attending the Kelley Day Host Program on November 7. This will help us combine two trips to IU into one trip. However, we didn't know until we started looking into this that it was also Freshman Family weekend and there are NO hotels in Bloomington. We will be traveling from Illinois I-74 to 231 in Crawfordsville to 46 to get to IU. Anything along the way a good choice? Any recommendations nearby? Thanks!

I personally recommend staying in Indy and driving down that morning–it’s not terribly far, maybe 45-60 minutes. The hotels in Martinsville are crummy, and most of the close-in surrounding areas will be booked since it’s parents weekend

There are a lot of hotels just south of Plainfield near Hwy 267 that are located about 40 miles from campus. An easy drive from there to Bloomington. Get to Hwy 267, continue south after going through Mooresville, then turn left just west of Martinsville, then take Hwy 37 to Bloomington.

From Illinois, take Hwy 267 exit at Brownsburg and drive south to Plainfield.

This is 20 minutes away and fun. Out of town on the way to Bedford. Pretty area, especially this time of year.

We recently stayed in the Best Western in Martinsville, it was not great but it was fine if you are just sleeping there. 20 min from Bloomington, an okay breakfast. a Lot closer than Indy!

Thanks for the suggestions! I appreciate it! :)
