Suggestions as to what colleges to apply to w/ these stats?

Hey, I really need help on knowing the names of some colleges that might fit me. I don't even have a list to narrow down from. In particular, I'm looking for some suggestions on schools known to be strong in premed or science or journalism or all. I'm a rising senior.

Major/Career: Undecided BUT
I am interested in these fields/majors: Pre-med, Neuroscience, Nursing (RN), Nursing Anesthesiology.
I'm hoping to either minor in or add as a second major: Journalism, English, or Asian-American Studies.
I want to have the freedom/choice to take lots of electives and interesting classes while taking classes in the major I decide to declare.

Stats:
School type: public, very elite, urban
GPA UW: 94.7
SAT I: 2260
CR: 740
Math: 740
Writing: 780
ACT Composite: 33

Extracurrics:
School Newspaper - 3 years - Editor of News Department - 1 year
Step Crew - Assistant Director
Cross Country Team, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Team - 2 years
Key Club - 3 Years - community service
National Honor Society - community service

Summer stuff:
Volunteered in hospital (100+hours)
Volunteer Tutor at Kumon (40 hours)
Editor working with kids and writing articles for youth journalism non-profit program
10 day journalism workshop at NYU
Trying to find a job hopefully

APs:
AP World History - 5
AP Psych - don't know score yet
AP English Lit - senior year
AP Bio - senior year
AP Calc AB - senior year (I know...not the most rigorous courseload...)

Features in a School I'm Looking For:
Academic strength in fields I'm interested in
Freedom to take lots of electives/courses for fun (so, open curriculum)
Urban OR suburban setting (prefer traditional campus in large city OR college town) - no rural
Location: Mid-atlantic, New England, or South
Cost: not an issue, will apply for aid
Housing: Definitely looking to dorm/room with people, want the "college experience"

Some suggestions please? Any would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I completely missed the last part of your post. I’ll start over. I’m not too familiar with the South, but I might look into Brown. Providence is a pretty nice city, and you have so much freedom with your courses. John Hopkins would be great for you too, I’ve heard they tend to encourage diversity of interests and pursuits.

These are reaches, but they seem like really good fits. Sorry I can’t help you too much with safeties and matches.

Emory fits your stats and your pre-med interests.

Thanks so much! I will definitely check those out!

University of Rochester meets your criteria–it has an open curriculum, outside a decent-sized city and has strong sciences.
If you are really considering nursing, you could apply to University of Pennsylvania. The nursing school is top notch and generally is easier to get into than other Penn schools. It doesn’t have an open curriculum, but you could take classes in all of Penn’s other schools.

Thanks!!!

Vanderbilt has an amazing pre-med program as well. The campus is very urban but very beautiful, located just minutes away from downtown Nashville, TN (in the South of course). You must live on campus all four years, and their financial aid packages are awesome. They will give you tons of money in financial aid, grants, and scholarships so that you can afford it.

I highly recommend it.

Cornell University has a very strong pre-med advising program.

Thank you! Cornell has a pretty rural campus though, but I’ll check it out.

What is Columbia known to be strong in academically?

I need matches…

Are you sure that cost won’t be an issue? Have you sat down with your parents and discussed how much they are willing to spend? College is really expensive…

What state do you reside in?

What size college do you want? Any preference between LAC and University?

If you’re looking to become a doctor, then you’ll need to go to med school, which is pretty damn expensive. In that case, it might be a good idea to explore cheaper, in state options and save for med school.

I live in NY. I am already looking at CCNY Sophie Davis and BA/MD programs at SUNYs but I’m not sure about being a doctor and don’t want to get stuck in something I don’t want to do. So I’m not sure if BA/MD programs are right for me but I am seriously thinking about it and what I want to pursue in life as a career.

No preference between LAC or univ.

Bumppppppppp

Also some other criteria I’m looking for in a college: lots to do on campus, not a strong Greek or alcohol presence, very diverse student body (racially and socioeconomically)

Outside Boston, Tufts and Holy Cross have high premed acceptance rates (~85%)

Why would you volunteer at a for profit company?
