suggestions for pursuing a masters at a different school

Hi eveyone,

I am new here, and actually, I signed up just to ask this question...

For the sake of anonymity, I am not going to divulge which school I am currently attending. Here is my delema: the school I am attending is amazing. I love it. I am working hard and holding a steady 4.0. I am proud to be a student here... But... It's not regionally accredited. It is state and nationally accredited which, to my understanding, doesn't mean a whole lot. They do come off a little trade school-ish, but it is also for a very specialized degree that few colleges (that I have found) offer. I would like to pursue a masters degree in a more mainstream degree that I feel will compliment my 4 year, when I am finished. I have heard the horrer stories, from others online, of turning in a credit transfer application and being laughed at while the door hits you on your way out.

By volume of complaints alone, I can tell that this is a very real issue. I guess I am hoping for some sort of reassurance that its not an impossible endeavor, and that I hopefully will not have to spend 4 more years of my life doing something I don't like, spending money that NOBODY has, in order to complete a masters.

Hoping for some news that's less than heartbreaking...

I should add; the schools primary accreditation is ACCSC. I guess that the major problem that people have isn’t even that its a national accreditation, but rather that they don’t technically have to meet university standards.

Ask your professors where students in your major have been admitted for grad school. They will be able to tell you.

An additional approach is to contact the admissions department of some colleges you are considering to see if they will accept Masters applicants with an undergrad degree from your current school.

Thank you guys. I appreciate the suggestions. When I am nearing the end of my 4 year mark (ish) ill start asking instructors and what not.

If anyone else has any suggestions, I am going to keep watching this thread closely. Thank you so much guys.
