Please weigh in if you have ideas, suggestions, insights, or know of programs to improve driving skills. I know ADD/ADHD has a definite negative impact on driving. Thanks for your ideas.

Practice, practice, practice. We paid the teacher to take out our son for lots and lots of extra lessons before he got his license. In fact, he didn’t get his license until second semester of his senior year. He could have gotten it about 2+ years earlier. He’s still not a great driver, but at least he hasn’t been in any accidents (lately).

One tip we got was to have our kid be our navigator for about six months before starting to drive. Getting her familiar with how to get from place to place makes the rest of learning to drive a little easier, since they don’t have to worry as much about this.

These are good suggestions that I wish I’d tried before the license. Unfortunately this is a remedial situation for a kid away at college most of the year.
