suggestions on my list?

hey i'm almost done with my list -- just need some help with the last few schools! SATs are competitive, interested in international studies / IR / anthropology, that sort of thing

definitely applying to:
chicago
stanford
penn
williams
tufts
washu
berkeley

i'd say the last 4 are matches (even if high-matches)?

was thinking of adding 3 more, but not sure which ones to add to balance the list:
- columbia / yale / brown (like the first two a lot but seems near impossible / not sure if i have too many reaches)
- emory / umich (i liked them when i first saw them, but a little hesitant now)
- nyu (would you say that nyu's a safety?? though i'm really not a fan of the campus)
- georgetown (the academics look good, but not sure about the atmosphere)
- northwestern / rice (never really liked them but they keep coming back in my college search)

thanks!

penn and williams are not matches for anyone. if you are already interested in williams, perhaps you should add amherst. very similar schools, amherst is far less rural (could be a positive or negative for you)

Those are all reaches due to the %age accepted. Do you have a safety you are assured of getting into, can afford, and would be happy to attend?

“Sats are competitive”

What are they? We can’t suggest schools unless you tell us. And are you looking for financial aid?

Echoing the above posters, we need your full stats and a list of some preferences and you also do not have a safety on your list. Tufts may be a match if you show interest, and if your SATs are >2350 or so, WashU may be a match. Other than that, they are all reaches.

Two safeties (make sure you spend time on the essays and show interest for both though) are George Washington and American. Both are top in IR (GWU is right on Embassy Row in DC, but beware, it has an urban campus similar to NYU).

Fin Aid information is also important. If you are OOS for Berkeley, can you afford it?
