I was thinking that too. But I figured I would hold it back a bit. Thank you, spanks, for your bluntness.

I don't see anything wrong with my post... but your reply just reveals the ignorance of a few rude Cornellians. I think I have the right to know how stressful Cornell students are. From your reply, I can tell some Cornellians are.

And I actually find the incident having 100% to do with my academics and my ability to handle course load. Was that alumni a striaght A student in high school? Is it a possibility that I may not handle the course load? Which college did the alumni graduate? How was his courseload at Cornell?

I really think I have the right to know.

Thank you.

~The alumnus graduated Cornell and 10 years later he decides to kill himself because he found Cornell too stressful.~ Right. This incident has nothing to do with academics and even if it were a current student, this is not the right thread to ask. Have some respect, man.

^^my thoughts exactly...thank you norcalguy.

shifu - we are on your case because there is a time and a place to ask questions like that. It's fine to want to know about the stress levels Cornell students have to deal with. That's a legit question. However, this was neither the time nor the place. Just have a little respect, this is a tragic event and I can only imagine the pain that this guys' parents must be going through.

Sorry, maybe it's because my cultural background from overseas, but I didn't find my thread disrespectful. But I apologize if I have offended anyone.

I wonder what this guy's real story was. He was a Pennsylvania native so why was he still in Ithaca 10 years later?

Shifu, I can understand that you didn't mean to offend anyone, for future reference it is helpful to consider carefully whether your statements are inappropriate and offensive. Your conclusion that other people were simply "ignorant" and "rude" was uncalled for, seeing as this is a topic that strikes many people personally.

"Ignorant" and "rude" were in response to some of the personal insults (which were thankfully abridged by moderators) on this page.

to suggest there is any connection between the things you want to know and what occurred last week is absurd!
you do not have the RIGHT to any of that information!

it is a tragedy and it is clearly NOT all about you, regardless of where you're from.

Today has been a tragic day in Ithaca, New York. Anyone is free to start a new thread to discuss either the tragic suicide *or * academic stress levels of Cornellians, but not to mingle both topics. None of us knows the connection between these two situations.

No further purpose is served by piling on someone who mixed the two topics, was called on it, and apologized for inadvertent offense.
