Sum of Consecutive Integers Problem

Bluebook, page 673 -

18

If the sum of the consecutive integers from -22 to x, inclusive, is 72, what is the value of x?

a) 23
b) 25 The Answer
c) 50
d) 75
e) 94

I constantly get this type of problem wrong because I do not know how to figure this type of problem out without just straight-up typing it in the calculator, and that takes entirely too much time. Could someone explain a more logical, sensible way to solve this type of problem? Thanks.

Oh, well. Thank you. ;)

EDIT: Wow. That problem is stupidly easy. What was I thinking?
